The United States Liberty Party of Virginia Demands Transparency from Fairfax City Council Regarding Closed-Door Session
FAIRFAX, VA — As the Fairfax City Council prepares for a "Special Closed Meeting" on March 17, The United States Liberty Party of Virginia issues the following statement:
"Government functions best in the light of day. While the Council discusses utility rate hikes of 6% and potential salary increases for themselves, they choose to meet behind closed doors. The taxpayers of Fairfax are not a piggy bank to be tapped in secret.
The United States Liberty Party calls for an immediate end to non-essential closed sessions. Whether it is the 'pay-to-play' atmosphere surrounding the Tysons Casino or the opaque redevelopment of Courthouse Plaza, the residents of Fairfax deserve to see how their money is being spent—and who is profiting from these decisions. We demand that any decision regarding public funds or official compensation be made in a fully transparent, public forum.”
